Alex Stefanovic BSc FRICS FCIArb • Chartered Surveyor • RICS Accredited Mediator

A former Equity Partner of Underwoods LLP in Northampton (19 years) and appointed regularly by the President of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors for 25+ years to act as Independent Third Party Expert or Arbitrator, numerous Awards and Determinations made in dispute resolution on a variety of matters including capital valuations, commercial rent reviews, lease renewals, business disputes, boundary disputes and telecomms agreements, by way of hearing and written representations. Also appointed as a PACT (Professional Arbitration on Court Terms) resolver. Member of RICS PACT working party. RICS Panel Member NHS Expert Advisor pharmacy and healthcare premises appointments, also reporting to the NHS Litigation Authority.
Alex is a member of the RICS Working Party on the future of Mediation, a small group of professionals and RICS Dispute Resolution staff set up to establish Codes of Practice and provisional scheme rules. He is also on the National Mediation Helpline Panel (operated by the Ministry of Justice) in conjunction with the Civil Mediation Council, on the RICS panel of Neighbourhood Dispute Specialists dealing with boundary and other neighbour disputes.

Undertaking appointments made by the RICS and through the Courts as Single Joint Expert and Expert Witness, as well as Expert appointed by the parties, including CPR compliant reports relating to boundary matters. Represented parties in Court hearings in relation to lease renewal proceedings. Dealt with a number of Arbitration proceedings involving legal disputes, questions of interpretation of contracts and lease documents and matters involving section 18 Valuations (diminution in value of the landlord’s reversion as part of the dilapidations claim) as well as landlord and tenant matters and residential development land value disputes.
Committee member of Arbrix, the organisation external to the RICS which represents the views of and arranges professional development of RICS appointed Arbitrators. Appointed in the past by the President of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in respect disputes involving complaints against Chartered Surveyors, sat on the RICS Presidents Disciplinary Committee, and called upon to act as Arbitrator in relation to non-rent review disputes ranging from business agreements and partnership disputes through to dilapidations and disputed valuation matters. Acted as a professional adviser to candidates of the Princes Youth Business Trust Scheme. In 2012 accepted invitations to sit on the RICS Dispute Resolution Service Commercial Property Working Party and teach/assess the RICS Diploma in Arbitration.
